The “Magic Knots” is a bit of a controversial connection method. There are many different ways to join a new length of yarn to the one that is already being used. When you are working with most projects, there will come a time that you need to join a new ball of yarn, especially with large projects. The Russian join is an excellent technique for attaching a new skein of yarn or for changing colors. Like most knitting techniques, the method you choose depends on your personal preference and the specific project situation. Best of all, it creates a secure join, so you can keep crocheting or knitting without worrying about yarn ends! Simply lay your new yarn on top of the row or round you are working, and work over the new yarn for a few stitches. Here are instructions on how to complete the I’ve used 2 different colors of yarn, but this is a great technique for attaching a new skein of the same color yarn, too! Experiment with each and pick what works best for you!
